It is indeed going to be a long two years. The best retort to Democrat quasi-treason is success in Iraq, but unfortunately we don't have a lot of that to show. Plenty of "turning points", and mounds of Tango Uniform terrorists, yes--but we badly need to put Iraq in the W column, soon.

When someone says that something is offensive to fill-in-the-aggrieved-group, you can most also get a more accurate picture by rewriting the complaint: Something is offensive to liberals who regard themselves as the protectors and spokespeople of fill-in-the-aggrieved-group.

I don't agree that the reporters in Iraq are cowardly--look at poor John Siegenthaler, in the hospital thanks to an IED.
But too many of 'em are suckers for whatever taxicab scuttlebutt they get fed. I liked that one quote from a reporterette last year, protesting about being called home: "I do my job. I never leave the hotel."

Maybe it's better to get pounded like cheap veal like that, than to get eliminated in an OT squeaker like the Falcons did. Michael Vick was his usual entertaining self, but the Falcons aren't moving up to the next level with him like they'd hoped. Still, it beats their usual 3-13 seasons in years past.
Moral: Twinkle-toes quarterbacks fill seats, but stifling defenses win championships.

If the Times has been sitting on this for a more than a year, wonder why they didn't report it earlier, during the 2004 elections? That's when it would have done the most short-term damage to Bush, and helped get Kerry elected.
